Bismillaah (In The Name of Allaah)
Dear Reader,
There is a famous hadith and you know of it I am sure. It is reported the Rasool (peace and blessing upon him) said, “All actions are judged by their intentions.” Most, like to bring up this hadith when they are corrected. Actually this hadith is used an evidence regarding when we make repentance. The first condition of making repentance is that it is made purely for the sake of Allaah.
Maasha Allaah, there are a number of proofs and evidences that seeking forgiveness increases one’s rizq (sustenance) in the Quraan and Sunnah. For example:
“I said (to them): Ask forgiveness from your Lord: Verily, He is oft forgiving; He will (then) send rain to you in abundance, and give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens, and bestow on you rivers.”
[Quraan 10-12]
This ayat is proof that Allaah blesses people by continously sending rain time after time when they seek forgiveness. Seeking forgiveness also causes people to see an increase in their money and in their number of children. Allah’s statement ‘He will give you gardens can be understood as property and land’. Lastly, by His saying ‘He will give you rivers’ can be derived to mean you will have proper cultivation of those lands, insha Allaah.
Imam al-Qurtubi stated, “In this verse, and also the verse in Sura hud, are clear proofs that asking for forgiveness is a cause of the descent of rizq and rain.”
[Tafsir al-Qurtubi, v18, p.302]
“And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as evil-doers.”
(Quran Sura Hud; ayat 52)
Ibn Kathir commented on this verse saying, “Then Hud commanded them to ask forgiveness from their Lord, for in it is the removal of the past sins, and by repentance the sins to come also. And whosoever has this characteristic, then Allaah will make his risq easy t v vvo obtain, and make his affairs easy for him, and to protect his interests. And this is why Allaah has said, “He will send rains upon you continuously.”
And Allaah Knows Best!
